Therapy Xperts are now offering a dedicated Massage Therapy service, delivered by Caroline Daly.
The diverse benefits of massage, which have been recognised for thousands of years, include both physiological and psychological effects. Physiological benefits include relieving muscle fatigue, tension and stiffness, improving circulation and lymph drainage and enabling more relaxed and deeper breathing. The psychological benefits are more subtle and work by relaxing both the body and mind which can reduce anxiety / stress and increase energy levels by alleviating fatigue.
Therefore the conditions which respond well to massage therapy are equally as diverse as the benefits and include muscle tension / fatigue due to sports, whether professional or recreational and as an adjunct to physiotherapy treatment for muscle imbalance / pain. Regular massage therapy is very useful in maintaining overall health, particularly for individuals prone to stress and muscle tension. The types of massage available include holistic massage, which aims to treat and relax the body as a whole, and deep tissue massage which is effective in treating more deep seated issues. Within these types of massage, various techniques will be used to treat individual problems, for example the use of stretching techniques. These techniques can be incorporated either into a full body massage or directed at treating a more localised area.
Caroline also offers Pregnancy Massage for the mum’s to be which involves a complete body massage, using specific pre-natal techniques to help relax, increase circulation, alleviate tired muscles and reduce water retention. Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.
